COLBY will calculate the discharge of sands following the Colby 1964 method
(Ponce, V. M., 1989. Engineering Hydrology, Principles and Practices,
Prentice Hall.
Click the YES radio button if you are using SI units;
click NO if you are using U.S. customary units.
The program will prompt you
to enter mean velocity v, mean flow depth d,
channel width B, water temperature T, median bed-material size d50
(mm),
and wash-load concentration Cw (ppm).
In SI units, use depth and width in meters, velocity in
meters per second, temperature in degree Celsius,
and sand discharge in metric tons/day;
in U.S. customary units, use feet, feet per second, degree Fahrenheit, and U.S. tons/day.
The mean velocity v is restricted in the range of 1-10 fps (0.305-3.05 m/s).
The mean flow depth d is restricted in the range of 0.1-100 ft (0.0305-30.5 m).
The water temperature T is restricted in the range of 32-100 oF
(0-38 oC).
The median bed-material size d50 is restricted in the range of 0.1-1.0 mm.
The wash-load concentration Cw is restricted in the range of 0 - 150,000 ppm.
The program reports discharge of sands in U.S. tons/day and metric
tons/day.
